Drawing; new ideas, works in progress.

Drawing, new ideas and works in progress. Drawing of late. It’s an absorbing process to participate in, and I can feel a mental “dusting off” of skills that were in long-term storage in my brain. I have also been posting a lot of little sketches and thumb nail ideas into my Instagram account, as well

Artist photos – professionally taken artwork gallery part two

Artist photos from further back in the past – 2009-2011. University assessment pieces, as well as my first year practicing outside the tertiary system. Stained slip silouette wall painting, 2009 I would like to thank every photographer that has recorded my works’ images for posterity (mainly the amazingly friendly, genuinely interested and always professional members

    Works in progress, new ideas

Works in progress I have been drawing a little bit of late, and wanted to share the skritchy-scratch biro ones. They are small-scale and I am so rusty with bone structure, so they look awkward in places too. But, it’s an encouraging start, as I haven’t created any 2D works for years. The ink layers glide

    Crocheting recently

Crocheting recently has been a hit and miss deal. I’m in the preparation stage, and I’m still hitting my stride working out these floral details. I am having a lot of fun with the crocheting and general arts and craft book research. There’s also a lot of distractions with retail work and the artist pursuits

Fur and leather sewing – where do I even start?

Fur and leather. I was recently passed down some items of sentimental value. There’s some kind of strange stuff; teeth, tusks, furs, leather tooling equipment, scrimshaw equipment… shells… hammers… photos…. Already sounds like an amazing contemporary art piece, or like something you’d find on Regretsy. I look at this pile of stuff, and it’s strange.

  • Victory Lap

Victory lap post – and what a pleasant surprise. What a way to kick start the weekend! This was my entry for Barek‘s annual-ish Barek Eyes competition – you use the signature eye shapes that are a popular theme in his work, and appropriate them into whatever style and chosen media you desire. No big

  • Vintage craft books

Vintage craft books are great. Although, it is really difficult to find a website that will pin down the definite age of a ‘vintage’ book. I have settled on this definition which says that over 25 years old [clothing] can be considered vintage….if there’s a better one for books, I’d love to read about it,

Pinterest was explained to me in a way I’ve understood, and now I have a presence there.

Pinterest is something I have been aware of for some time now, but have held off on joining. It’s something that several people have expressed confusion over; because apparently, my work would fit in well there….? Externally, I’ve seen it as a pastel-coloured cupcake land where inspirational quotes abound and unicorns float on heart-shaped clouds

Making a dress, the January project

Making a dress Making a dress is complicated. There’s all sorts of hidden layers to the process that you need to research first, or be mentored by another who’s versed in the art. I have inches in the bookshelf dedicated to the process, and I completely disregarded them as I went about created a dress
