Sketches from the #adrawingaday project (round 2)

A drawing a day is progressing well. Still drawing on sticker blanks for #adrawingaday, a regular and simple project for sharpening drawing skills and also, unwinding at the end of the day. While I can’t noticeably see an improvement, hopefully I will be able to look back on this documentation and see it in the fullness of time.

  • Drawing, sketching, thumbnails

Mentioned in last post, I have been doing some small sketches. I have compiled them here for posterity. All of these have been posted to friends and family, added to collages and postcards and glued to the master copies of zines. Enjoy!

    Large handmade postcards, collage crafternoon

I needed large handmade postcards for a recent spree of letter writing. I enjoy sending snailmail to people. Drawing, new ideas and works in progress. Drawing of late. It’s an absorbing process to participate in, and I can feel a mental “dusting off” of skills that were in long-term storage in my brain. I have also been posting a lot of little sketches and thumb nail ideas into my Instagram account, as well

    Works in progress, new ideas

Works in progress I have been drawing a little bit of late, and wanted to share the skritchy-scratch biro ones. They are small-scale and I am so rusty with bone structure, so they look awkward in places too. But, it’s an encouraging start, as I haven’t created any 2D works for years. The ink layers glide

  • The Travelling Journal, a story about six Australian artists

The Travelling Journal was a project I collaboratively worked on with a number of interesting artist types. In no order, my partners were: Joeli Eastell Kathryn Shewring barek Cherie Strong Little Detour And it spent six to eight weeks being passed aound the Eastern coast of Australia. I got it first, my contribution is the four anatomically-themed textile panels

  • Arts based workshops reviewed

The other day I had one of my arts based workshops reviewed. According to this small sample, I am pretty much a total boss at arts based workshops. Writing a survey, and choosing targets wisely….less so. But why the review to start with? I live in a perpetual state of maybe-write-a-grant. Retrospectively, I’ve had no overwhelmingly expensive artists’
